FAQs
Q. Is ADHD Adventures only for young people with a diagnosis of ADHD?
A. To attend our groups, the young person should have either a confirmed or potential diagnosis of ADHD. It’s also completely fine if they have additional diagnoses such as Autism, Tourette’s, or other neurodevelopmental conditions — we recognise these often overlap and we welcome young people with a mix of needs.
Some of our groups are also open to siblings who do not have a diagnosis. This depends on the specific group and our capacity at the time
Q. Where are you based?
A. One of our unique strengths is that we don’t operate from a fixed building. Instead, we use our ADHD Adventures van to travel across Aberdeenshire, and our Lead Practitioners work from home bases.
This flexible model means we can bring our service directly to young people, including those living in more rural or hard‑to‑reach areas across Aberdeenshire.
Q. What qualifications and experience do the staff have?
A. ADHD Adventures is led by qualified social workers with over 40 years of combined experience supporting children, young people, and families.
Our team also brings lived experience of ADHD, which means we genuinely understand what it’s like to have ADHD and what families need. This combination of professional expertise and real‑life insight shapes everything we do and helps us support young people in a way that feels authentic, informed, and compassionate.
Q. Is there a cost for the service?
A. We try to keep our sessions either free or as low‑cost as possible. We do charge organisations for training.
Q. Who can make a referral
A. Anyone can refer — parents, carers, teachers, school staff, professionals, or the young person themselves.
